The results of the by-elections are expected to be declared on April 17, 2019.
The Tamil Nadu government has not yet decided whether to declare the results as soon as the results of this by-poll are declared.
The by-campaign is expected to begin on April 11.
The candidates in the bypoll include former Union minister J P Sreejitha, former state CM S K Radhakrishnan and ex-leader of opposition CPI(M) and chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
The Tamil Alliance Party, which had come to power in the state after the retirement of its former chief minister, A.P. Jayalavansingh, won in the previous by-contest.
On Saturday, Radhakishnan tweeted: “I want to thank all the people of Tamil Nadu for your support during this election.
I will continue my work as the CM.”
Sreejipan has said he will be campaigning for the Congress Party.
Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and leader of opposition, J Jayallalitha has said she will be voting for the BJP and other parties.
Jayalalit, who is from the BJP-ruled state of Karnataka, has called the byelection a “political ploy” to undermine the government.
In a video message on Saturday, Jayalakshmi, the first woman chief minister in Tamilyas history, said she would be voting against the Congress and other regional parties.
“I will be the first person to vote against Congress and the regional parties,” she said.
Jayalaprasad, the state’s youngest leader, has said the byelections will help him win in a by-convention.
